The Out with Prostate Cancer support group was formed in April 2013 and was the first UK-wide prostate cancer support group for gay and bisexual men and Transwomen. They welcome all men, gay and bi-sexual and trans who have had cancer, are currently experiencing it or have beaten it. They also welcome the families, carers and friends of those who have prostate cancer.
Our Group offers emotional comfort and support as well as its own wisdom and practical information to those who face the many challenges that are presented by the diagnosis of prostate cancer. (We do not however offer medical advice on individual cases and suggest you contact your GP or Prostate Cancer UK or Macmillan Cancer Care).
Our Group is directed primarily at gay and bisexual men and trans-women, including those who are:
frightened by what is happening to them
a loved one or partner who wants to know what they are experiencing and feeling is normal and shared by others
apprehensive about treatment and want to see how others have coped
are coping well and don't need support — but come along to support others
smiling after beating cancer and attend the Group to show others that cancer can be beaten
