Behind the headlines: the unequal impact of the cost of living crisis is the very first report in National Voices’ ‘Behind the Headlines’ series, which gathers insight and intelligence from its 190 members on pertinent and current topics.

National Voices have heard from their members about how people are struggling with ill health and worsening living costs. Many people living with long-term conditions face additional costs, such as for treatments and prescriptions, transport, greater domestic bills and insurance as well as the knock-on effects of not being able to work, including reduced lifetime savings. In addition, there are many health conditions which are exacerbated by both inadequate heating and poor nutrition. It is important to listen to people’s first-hand experiences of this crisis.

Behind the headlines: the unequal impact of the cost of living crisis brings together a wealth of data and case studies from National Voices members on the topic of the cost of living crisis and how this impacts the people and communities they serve. Topics covered include Cancer, Kidney conditions, Older People and Homelessness. The report is concluded by a set of recommendations from National Voices on the basis of what they have heard from members.
