Nominations open for National Voices' Board of Trustees

Thu, 13 July 2017

Nominations open today and close on 10 August. Voting will run from 15 August to 19 September.

Nominations for two elected Trustees to join our Board are now open. The current Trustees are listed on our website; in line with our constitution, the Board is made up of a majority of elected Trustees from our membership and a minority of independently appointed Trustees. We have two vacancies for member trustees as Zoe Matthews of Friends, Families and Travellers reaches the end of her second term of office and must step down; and Simon Chapman from NCPC is moving on from his role after its merger with Hospice UK, so will step down as his first term of office comes to an end. A huge thank you to both of them for their work over the years.

Our elected Trustees are vital to National Voices. They represent the views of our members at the highest level of our decision making and ensure that we are always working with members in mind. This is a fantastic opportunity to participate in our governance for the next three years, contributing to National Voices’ growing impact as the leading coalition of health and care charities in England. It is also a worthwhile way to build your personal and organisational profile. Previous trustee elections have been hotly contested so act early!

You may nominate yourself or be nominated by your colleagues; in both instances, we will need to confirm your nomination with your Member Representative. If you are not sure who this is, contact Michael. Nominations open today and close on 10 August. Voting will run from 15 August to 19 September. Results will be announced at our AGM on 28 September - more details on that will follow soon.

Nominees will need to provide a headshot, details of their areas of expertise, skill and knowledge, and a candidate statement of no more than 500 words describing their suitability for the role by email to and include your name, title, and organisation.

Alternatively, you can complete the Nominations form below.

Trustees serve for an initial, three-year term of office and may then stand for re-election for a second term. If you want to talk about being a Trustee please contact Matt on 020 3176 0736 or by email.

All full members of National Voices are eligible and are encouraged to  nominate a representative to become a trustee.  We are particularly encouraging candidates who can evidence experience of one or more of the following:

  • A focus on diversity and equality issues,
  • A background in social care
  • Expertise in service transformation, such as working with STPs

We especially welcome applications from members of black or minority ethnic communities.
