Our impact

Find out more about the impact of our work influencing the health and social care agenda in England, supporting our members to have their voices heard and amplifying the voices of people with lived experience.

Our year in numbers: 2023-2024

We are proud to share a series of images that capture our year in numbers, for 2023-2024.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff team, volunteers, members, partners, funders and Lived Experience Partners for making our work possible.

Our influence

During 2023-2024, we continued to influence the health and social care agenda in England, supporting members to have their voices heard and amplifying the voices of people with lived experience of health conditions, people experiencing health inequalities and disabled people.

We are proud of our policy wins, which include the impact our work has had on shaping both the Primary Care and Dental recovery plans. The emphasis in these plans on improving access barriers for those who struggle the most to get care is a significant achievement.

We have also influenced on vaccines policy, the role of new weight loss drugs, how patient data is used and on improving NHS admin.

Our Lived Experience Partners

During 2023-2024, we have witnessed remarkable progress through the invaluable contributions of our Lived Experience Partners across our work – both internally and externally.

Our Lived Experience Partners have been involved in over 40 events and deployed their knowledge and expertise on co-production with senior leaders in health and care across England, including with our friends at West Midlands ADASS, Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust, within Core20PLUS Connector sites and much more.

We continue to have a focus on strengthening the knowledge, skills and confidence of people with lived experience to influence decision making.

Our members

Our members are at the heart of all decision making at National Voices. Understanding their ambitions, practice and ideas and making their insights more central to everything we do has been a fundamental part of 2023-2024.

Members tell us the things they value the most about their membership are:

  • Opportunities to engage with senior decision makers in health and care.
  • Opportunities to network with and learn from peers in the voluntary sector.
  • Being able to amplify their organisation’s voice on issues which matter to the people they work with.

Our reach

The world of health and social care policy can move quickly, and our members look to National Voices to lead on emerging topics which they may not have capacity to respond to individually.

We are proud of our reach across national and trade media, across social media and via our newsletters, which ensure the work we do is communicated effectively and key messages meet the most appropriate audiences.

Our operations

In 2023-2024, we have significantly shifted our focus on fundraising, with a new dedicated fundraising team with colleagues from across the staff team. In 2023-2024, we raised £812k to fund our activities, up £55k from 2022-2023.

At National Voices, our team is small but mighty, and we recognise the importance of having a job that fits around your life, rather than having to make your life fit around your job.

In 2023-2024, we introduced new and enhanced policies to support staff with maternity, paternity and sick leave. Read more about our policies and family-friendly benefits here

In a world that is constantly evolving, National Voices continues to be a vital force in driving positive change
